
As California’s 34th State Treasurer, Fiona Ma, CPA oversees one of the largest public financial portfolios in the United States, helping safeguard the fiscal strength of the world’s fifth largest economy. First elected in 2018 with a record breaking 7.8 million votes and reelected in 2022, she made history as the first woman of color and the first Certified Public Accountant elected to serve as California State Treasurer.
The California State Treasurer’s Office plays a vital role in financing schools, affordable housing, transportation, hospitals, environmental initiatives, and other critical infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life for millions of Californians. Treasurer Ma also serves as the state’s primary banker, with her office processing more than $3 trillion in annual banking transactions.
