Not long ago, the fall TV season was something special, with the return of our favorite shows. Nowadays, thanks to streaming services, great series are released year-round. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t something exciting to look forward to this fall. Several new and returning shows are on the way, with some even having official premiere dates. Let’s dive into what’s coming up
1. The Penguin
This series is a spin-off from The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, although he likely won’t appear in it. Instead, we’ll see Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. The eight-episode show takes place a week after the events of The Batman and follows Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot (Penguin), played by Farrell, as he rises in Gotham’s criminal underworld. Milioti plays Sofia Falcone, daughter of the late Gotham crime boss Carmine Falcone, while Michael Zegen plays her brother Albert. Michael Kelly also stars as Johnny Viti, an underboss in the family.

2. Emily in Paris (Season 4, Part 2)
She’s back. The first half of the season premieres in August, with the second half following a month later. Is there a reason we need to cool down before the second part? We can’t wait to find out!
Emily in Paris has surprisingly become one of the most talked-about comedies of recent years. The series follows Emily’s move from Chicago to Paris, where she is supposed to represent an American point of view at the fictional French firm Savoir. The show has been praised for its warmth, charm, and stunning fashion, while also criticized for its stereotypical portrayal of France and Parisians. Despite mixed reviews, according to Deadline, the show became Netflix’s most popular comedy series in 2020, with the third season watched for 117.6 million hours in its first week on the platform.

3. Agatha All Along
Marvel fans rejoice—Kathryn Hahn returns as her character Agatha Harkness from WandaVision. The powerful witch, who disguised herself as the nosy neighbor “Agnes” in the series, is left powerless after being freed from the Westview Anomaly. She seeks to regain her former power, finding some unexpected allies along the way.
Release Date: September 18
4. Matlock
Kathy Bates plays a septuagenarian who comes out of retirement to return to the law. The series trailer nods to the original Matlock, in which Andy Griffith played the titular criminal defense attorney, as well as to Perry Mason, another iconic justice-seeking series recently revived with Matthew Rhys in the lead role.

5. Nobody Wants This
Joan (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) make an unlikely duo. She’s a outspoken, agnostic woman, and he’s an unconventional rabbi. This romantic comedy series explores their improbable relationship.
The love story in the show feels very real, thanks to the fact that it was inspired by the real-life romance of director Erin Foster. “This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy,” says Foster. “But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable (there’s nothing to complain about). So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard. Nobody Wants This, but we do, and that’s all that matters.”

6. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (Season 2)
This year, Christmas comes early for fans of The Walking Dead character Daryl Dixon. Not only is the first season of his spin-off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon now available on Sky Max and NOW, but fans also have a release date for the second season in the U.S., and a third season has already been ordered!
We already knew that Melissa McBride would return as Carol Peletier in the second season, now titled The Book of Carol, but she’ll also join Norman Reedus in the third season, which will follow the duo as they find themselves in Madrid on their journey home.
Release Date: September 29
7. Heartstopper (Season 3)
The British coming-of-age drama, based on Alice Oseman’s webcomic, returns for a third season with the big question: Will Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) muster up the courage to confess his love to Nick Nelson (Kit Connor)?
While the romance in Heartstopper can sometimes feel overly sweet, the series isn’t afraid to be real. It just does so in a uniquely empathetic way.
Release Date: October 3
8. Abbott Elementary (Season 4)
The hilarious and heartwarming mockumentary series Abbott Elementary is one of the most popular shows on television, and Quinta Brunson’s hit is returning for a fourth season. Set in the titular school in Philadelphia, it follows dedicated teachers who do their best to provide a good education for their students despite numerous challenges.
While sitcoms typically return to normal by the end of each season, the third season of Abbott Elementary ended on a tense note that could significantly impact the fourth season. After their “will-they-won’t-they” relationship simmered throughout the first three seasons, Janine and Gregory finally confessed their feelings and let go of what was holding them back. This could create problems since they’re coworkers, especially given that Ava (the school’s principal and Janine’s boss) has always been open about her crush on Gregory.
Release Date: October 9
9. Outlander (Season 7, Part 2)
The second half of the penultimate season of this historical drama premieres later in 2024, bringing us closer to the end of the time-traveling story of Dr. Claire and Scottish soldier Jamie. The action takes place during the Revolutionary War, and the duo must figure out who their true allies are (and maybe avoid getting into trouble). Meanwhile, in the more recent past of the 1980s, their daughter Brianna and her family face their own challenges.
Outlander will conclude with its eighth season. But a prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, is already in development.
Release Date: November 22
10. Yellowstone (Season 5)
After delays caused by writers’ and actors’ guild strikes, the final episodes of Paramount Network’s blockbuster will be released nearly two years later. Other shows in the Yellowstone universe, 1944 and 2024, are also in the works.
Before the flagship series wraps up, the Duttons have a lot of unfinished business to handle. Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) are ready to tear each other apart, John (Costner) faces impeachment, and a devastating outbreak is spreading through Montana’s wildlife, endangering the Duttons’ cattle.
