WHAT: The Health Education Council (HEC), Instacart, and Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) are launching the Good Food for All initiative in the Sacramento region to combat food insecurity. The program will provide 375 local families with $80 per month in Instacart Health Fresh Funds for 8 months, allowing them to purchase fresh, canned, or frozen fruits and vegetables through Instacart. This partnership aims to reduce financial barriers to healthy eating and promote long-term wellness in underserved communities. We also invite the media to enjoy our one-of-a-kind stationary smoothie bike, which lets riders pedal while blending a smoothie made with fresh fruits and vegetables.

WHY:
This media-only event will recognize the official launch of Good Food for All in Sacramento and highlight the power of cross-sector partnerships to drive nutrition equity. Speakers will discuss the program’s anticipated impact, share stories from participating families, and explore long-term strategies for creating healthy, food-secure communities. Sacramento County experiences food insecurity challenges at higher rates than the national rate, with nearly 30% of residents at risk of hunger. Good Food for All is an initiative that can help remove the financial barriers associated with accessing healthy food.
