SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA – Award-winning filmmaker Victor Migalchan and Executive Producer Robert Cody have announced development of a new comedy-drama television series set in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Created and directed by Migalchan, the untitled project will blend humor, family dynamics, business rivalries, friendship, loyalty, and larger-than-life personalities against the backdrop of one of America’s most diverse and influential regions.
Unlike traditional crime dramas that focus solely on violence and conflict, the new series aims to capture the unique character of the Bay Area through a colorful collection of fictional families, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and power brokers whose lives frequently intersect in unexpected ways.
“We’re creating something that is entertaining first,” said Migalchan. “There is comedy, drama, friendship, ambition, loyalty, betrayal, and plenty of personality. The Bay Area is one of the most fascinating places in the world because so many cultures, industries, and communities exist side by side. We want to explore that.”
The series will feature a fictional ensemble cast inspired by the Bay Area’s rich cultural landscape. Storylines will include characters from Italian, Irish, Chinese, Jewish, Eastern European, Latino, and other communities, each bringing their own traditions, values, humor, and perspectives to the story.
Rather than focusing on a single family, the show follows a network of interconnected personalities whose relationships are often complicated by business interests, personal history, family expectations, and the pursuit of influence.
Executive Producer Robert Cody said the project is designed to be both entertaining and relatable.
“At its core, this is a story about people,” Cody explained. “Every character thinks they’re the hero of their own story. Sometimes they’re right. Sometimes they’re completely wrong. That’s where the humor and drama come from.”
According to the creative team, audiences can expect:
- A distinctly Bay Area setting
- Diverse fictional families and organizations
- Character-driven storytelling
- Comedic situations mixed with dramatic stakes
- Business rivalries and unlikely alliances
- Multiple generations of leadership and succession struggles
- Themes of loyalty, ambition, friendship, and family
The project is currently in development, with additional announcements regarding casting, production, and the official series title expected in the future.
Migalchan, an Emmy Awards Juror, filmmaker, entrepreneur, author, and five-time World Martial Arts Champion, will serve as Creator and Director. Cody will serve as Executive Producer.
While details remain closely guarded, the creators promise that the series will offer audiences a fresh perspective on life in Northern California.
One thing is already clear:
Same City. Different Family. Much Better Stories.
