Over 600 Women and Allies Unite to Raise Awareness, Funds, and Hammers for Affordable Housing

Sacramento, CA (March 3, 2025) – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento has collaborated with U.S. Bank and the U.S. Bank Foundation for Women Build 2025, a month-long annual event and initiative hosted during Women’s History Month to address the urgent need for safe and affordable housing for hardworking low-income families. With the cost of housing continuing to rise, women-led households are particularly at risk, often forced to choose between rent, utilities, healthcare, and other basic needs.

Habitat’s newest 10-home community

“Working with U.S. Bank and the U.S. Bank Foundation helps us advance our mission of creating affordable homeownership opportunities,” said Leah Miller, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento. “Through their commitment to financial empowerment and community investment, U.S. Bank and the U.S. Bank Foundation are helping us build not just homes, but stability and hope for families who need it most.”

This March, more than 600 women and allies will come together to raise funds and awareness while directly contributing to the construction of Habitat’s newest 10-home community in the heart of historic Folsom. Each of these equity-building homes will be purchased by hardworking, qualified Habitat partner families earning between 30-80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). After contributing 500 hours of sweat equity building their home and the homes of their neighbors, these families will purchase their homes with an affordable 30-year, 0%-interest-equivalent mortgage.

“Safe and stable housing can help children, families and communities thrive. Working with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento to create access to affordable housing is an investment that will benefit generations to come,” said Ashley Bocek, community affairs manager at U.S. Bank.

This year, Women Build participants have collectively raised over $145,000 to support affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need.
